As a part of the Coalition-supported Rural Roads program, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has undertaken a multiyear program of focused and extensive repairs to the most problematic sections of Loudoun’s unpaved rural roads. This effort is designed to reduce the frequency of maintenance required in these areas and, thus, free up more routine maintenance resources for the entire rural road network while preserving its rural character.
VDOT has shared the list of roads VDOT plans to work on in 2016:
1. RT 711/Allder School Road
2. RT 629/Champe Ford Road
3. RT 797/Mt. Gilead Road
4. RT 727/Forest Mill Road
5. RT 784/Ward Hill Road
6. RT 841/Oakland Green Road
7. RT 673/Featherbed Lane
8. RT 709/Chappelle Hill Road
9. RT 743/Millville Road
10. RT 725/Hughesville Road
As in the previous two years, this focused repair and restoration effort
will involve tree trimming, ditching, pipe replacements as necessary, adding
gravel, grading, compacting, and rolling, and applying dust control.
