Second Sunday Walk at Blue Ridge Center
March 13, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join the Piedmont Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society for a Second Sunday Walk at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, 1-3 p.m. Sunday March 13 (Daylight Savings Time).
Ellie and Phil Daley will discuss the past and future of this 900-acre part of the Northern Piedmont while keeping an inquisitive eye out for changes in the flora and fauna that indicate that winter is losing its grip on the land. We should see the remnants of Skunk Cabbage blooms that flowered in January, bulging blossoms of Spice Bush and maples, wood frogs and salamander egg masses and many other indications that spring is just a week away. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress for the weather. Our walk will be about two miles in length on a dirt path along Piney Run with some uphill through a forested area.
Space is limited; we welcome your R.S.V.P. and questions: piedmontvnps@gmail.com. This walk is free and open to the public.
