Oatlands’ Slaves: Their Stories
April 11, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
A day of presentations at Oatlands Plantation (including free house tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) features the history of slaves at Oatlands, and those who started new lives after emancipation in Gleedsville. Those who are related to those families are invited to come and share stories and rememberances.
Following the program will be the dedication of two Civil War Trails markers: Local historian Kevin Grigsby will address attendees at the site of the Oatlands marker (3 p.m.), with music by the Combined Community Choir. At 4:30 p.m. in Gleedsville, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun, Marc Johnson will speak.
