Civil War history talks in Waterford

John Vrana [Image by Sky Richardson]Reenactor Jon Vrana will stage two “first-person” one-act dramas in the historic John Wesley Community Church in Waterford: First will be a reenactment of Waterford residents’ hearings before the Southern Claims Commission (organization of the executive branch of the U.S. government from 1871-1873 under President Ulysses S. Grant, which heard applications from Union sympathizers who had lived in the Southern states during the Civil War for reimbursements for property losses due to U.S. Army confiscations). Second will be “The Long Road Home”: Stories of Confederate soldiers who surrendered after the war and came back home.
Also, local historian Lee Stone will give a brief talk on his new book, a roster of the Independent Loudoun Rangers.
